If you walk into a hardware store or nut and bolt supply and buy stainless nuts and bolts, you are buying crap: cheap, nasty and quite a bit less strength than good old grade 5.  If you want to go stainless then go to a proper mil spec supplier.  Always use copper anti-seize as stainless nuts and bolts easily gall their threads, even under light loads.  Frankly good old plain jane grade 5 and grade 8 is a much better choice.  If corrosion is an issue, coat the threads with copper anti-seize.  I had no seized bolts or nuts when I disassembled my S1.  Not bad after 40 years and minimal care when assembled at the factory.

Kerry, I'm a bit concerned with the tone of your response to JBCollier's post. I did not read any sort of criticism or contradiction of anything that you wrote or of your skills and knowledge. As usual he was  just imparting his knowledge and experience in general with his many years as a professional mechanic.

Amazing how one can simply by reading a sentence can suss a writers intent and/or tone.. Looks like this ain't the place for me... It looks like Kerry deleted it. I hope he didn't actually leave. It didn't seem to me that Joji was being critical or offensive. It can be hard to gauge the intention behind a text post so I try to always take it at face value and assume no offence was meant.
