Duratec question

Spotted this on Craigslist, does anyone know if the bellhousing bolt pattern is the same as the Zetec?
Looks pretty Nasty!!!

I would expect the bell housing to bolt up to it. I would expect that all small 4 cylinder Fords to have the same bolt pattern. Also, he says it would be great for upgrading a Zetec. It might be worth a call to him to see if he knows.

The Duratec is a different bolt pattern, so not an easy swap compared to the Zetec.  The Duratec is a re-badged Mazda MZR unit.

Glad you straightened me on on that Roddy!

Blaster, I did some poking around and found a rebuilt ztec from Titan in Florida for $2787 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/FORD-2-0-01-04-ZETEC-REMANUFACTURED-ENGINE-/272098223750). A bit more expensive, but a known quantity and an easier swap since lots of people have done them.

I'm still going keep the Renault in it, just thought it might be something to tuck away for the future.  ::)

I think you would have to get a TC bell housing for a Zetec- I don't think the Renault bell housing would bolt on - so there would be some complication around that. I think that the Zetec is maybe the best swap for several reasons but the Renault engine can do very well, too. It should do just fine!

Here in North Carolina, there is a business in Salisbury (Poteat's Engines) that rebuilds zetecs, I think a bit over $1k for a complete rebuild, don't know if you need a core.
I've got a extra TC bell housing sitting around...
