Lotus Europa member map
« on: Friday,December 18, 2015, 07:44:29 AM »
As a previous Lotus Excel owner I was on the Lotusexcel.net forum. There someone did an google "add your location" map where each member could add their location. I thought this was neat idea. I created a Lotus Europa owners map where you can, if you like, add your location. Of course you can add as near as your town centre if you dont want to be to precise.

Anyway, here is the URL :http://tiny.cc/814d7x
Please press the plus sign in the upper right hand corner and follow instructions if you want to add your location.
The member password is AddMyEuropa to be able to add your location

The map starts at Hethel, just zoom out to see the rest of the World :-)

For reference here is the link to the Lotus Excel owners location map.

I tried to enter my car location and it said authentication failed and that maybe the map was locked. What did I do wrong?

UPDATE: I got it.

I added mine.  This is cool  :pirate:
But make sure you don't add your actual address might be a bit too much info out there for the not so honest crowd.

I added my address*.  Stop by if you can though with a little warning so I can make sure I'm in my best shop worn clothing.

* Stealing a Europa would be like stealing a Bozo the clown suit: not much value and everyone is going to notice if you "wear" it.

Added mine as well. It's cool to see the graphic representation of where we all are, spread around the world as we are.
The Twin Cam plays the symphony whilst my right foot conducts the orchestra. At 3800 rpm the Mad Pipe Organ joins in.

John,
Thanks for the map. I added my location. How would I go about editing my description?

You have to get the map admin (invjbo?) to unlock the map. Then double click on the marker and an editing window will come up.

I found this help information (https://content.zeemaps.com/mapping/map-overlays/map-markers-entries/) but it looks like you have to be the administrator to do a lot of it.

I've just added mine and afterwards it came up with a URL which it said you use for editing your entry in future. I've not tried it yet though.

Joe, could we make this a sticky topic or something other way so it doesn't drift down the forum and get lost for future members ?

John,
Thanks for the map. I added my location. How would I go about editing my description?

When you added your location, the application confirmed with a statement that you shoud save the URL that displayed in the dialogue. If you have this url you should be able to edit your entry. If you however missed it i think the easiest way is that I delete your entry and you can add it again with all information you want to.

As i got an admin password i can do some alterations as edit and delete. Maybe i should pass this along to the Forum admin so this info is kept closer to the LotusEuropa.org and its forum?

Best regards
John

Thanks Joe, now all we have to do is fill it up !

Brian

Edited to add:

The old map isn't working now (it is 5yrs ago ! ) and we have a new one on Google Maps

https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1jTRZcWu4mLh2TGGlmcLH5POFnQXI-SHc&ll=1.827346141101323%2C0&z=2

At the time of posting you can add/edit your own place markers and add photos, etc.  Hence the security is lax, so if it gets out of hand then we'll restrict access to viewing and map additions by request only.
