Im still trying to get the front end together. A few sway bar questions.
- do the new rubber bushings push on from the outside up to that little knotch or pinched area on the bar? Seems like a small raised pinch in the bar
- the drop down links are the same length but on has a large bend in the middle. Both are angled at the top
-The bar has a rather large openings at each end( 1/2 "). Is there a inside shim/collar that goes on the shock bolt to fit flush. Thanks Tom
Hi Tom,
1st question, yep, that's how mine are fitted and neat dish washing liquid helps to slide them on. Mine don't stay aligned with the "pinches" after driving but it's a good start.
2nd, both links should be the same. They are normally angled forwards but maybe a picture of what you've got would help here.
3rd, I've always assumed the bars have much larger holes than the pins that secure them to allow suspension movement around the mid point without applying any sideways load. If you try to fit the bar with the suspension on full droop it's quite a shove to align both ends, whereas if you drop the car onto it's wheels so it's at the correct ride height then it just slots into place easily. It looks poorly engineered but the main purpose of the bar is vertical loads and twisting the bar, so the rubber bushes take the bulk of it, having a "tighter hole" won't help in that sense.
