The toes belong to her indoors, she got very excited when I started talking about planning a marriage this weekend. I meant fitting the engine to the chassis.

One of the advantages of stripping down the chassis is that refitting the engine is a doddle.

Still aiming for Easter. 10 months full nut and bolt restoration whilst having a full time job is quite a challenge but I'm exactly where I wanted to be. I want all the suspension and brakes back on the chassis by the end of October ready for the body to come back. That then gives me 4 months for wiring and interior.

Great work, I can't find the time to even put the new carb on mine....

Good and bad news this weekend.  I decided to put some oil in and connect up the starter motor, take out the plugs and turn the engine over. So two problems, the starter motor wasn't engaging the fly wheel and was just spinning. Not sure why. And the sump plug was leaking terribly. Unfortunately it turns out the sump plug was cross threaded and wouldn't go in or out. Fortunately the shell is still away so it was restively easy to remove the engine but removing the sump left a colossal oily mess on my garage floor. Fortunately I have a spare engine and sump phew.
