  I have been a bit disappointed with the quality of the "out of sight" fibre glass even on this replacement shell. So I purchased a huge bucket of gel coat and I've been painting it on all the internal unfinished surfaces before going to paint.

I would go easy on the application of the extra resin, go thin as is reasonable. Some one in the past applied several coats/layers of fiberglass and resin to the rear and front deck lids of one of my Europas in an effort to stiffen the panels. I haven't weighed the deck lids but I swear, both weigh at least 10 pound extra apiece!!!.

I've put a couple of coats of gel coat in the front compartment and the side walls of the engine bay and the finish is so much better now.  Hoping when it goes to paint they will be able get a decent finish in those areas or I might use smooth yellow Hammerite with a roller.

 I am not sure about using hammerite as I think it is quite in-flexible and will flex and expand differently to the fibreglass or rather not flex at all.

Gel coat/resin alone will crack over time.  A couple of layers of veil cloth first is a better idea.  The best idea to to relax and not worry about it.

Big day today, very much spoilt by 3 companies who agreed to move my shell the 2 miles to the body shop and then changed their minds last minute. Thanks to Mr Shifter for stepping in at the last minute.

Finally managed to release the wheel that was seized to the nut. Some damage but a local specialist is happy to assist.

Both fuel tanks are knackered. This 0% credit card is taking some knocks.

Big day today, the last of the noisy dirty days.  Every part has been jet washed, sandblasted or ground.  From next week each piece will be painted, powder coated or polished and re fitted.
