She's looking great! Hopefully it'll be making noise soon!

Beautiful!!
The Twin Cam plays the symphony whilst my right foot conducts the orchestra. At 3800 rpm the Mad Pipe Organ joins in.

The plan is still April. But there are still a few big hurdles

Bodzer. I'm very interested to hear about your Else project.  Please do pm me.  I'm only aware of 1 other in U.K.

Having redisigned the basic wiring and introduced a multiple fuse box I held my breath today when I connected up the battery.  Despite nothing running for 37 years and all of the switches and instruments being re wired everything lit up today as planned and all of the instruments worked.  The biggest shock was the passenger electric window up and down. Only disappointed was drivers electric window down but not back up.

Congratulations on your wiring success! The window lift mechanism can sometimes jam. IIRC, you can "dial in" a bit of extra spring tension that helps that.

I was genuinely dreading fitting the locks but it turned out easier than I had anticipated.  However as the window is currently stuck down I can't fit the handle.  Is it possible to manually lift the window?

Only if the electric moving arm is disconnected from the bottom of the window.

Despite being on the home straight I have suffered a loss of enthusiasm recently and slowed down a bit.  However a day off yesterday perked me right up.  OS electric window motor cleaned and working again.  Door lock and handle fitted but OMG how hard and fiddly is that??  Started to re fit the steering column and discovered I don't have a steering wheel nut.  Amazed to discover that my local engineering works didn't have one and couldn't even identify the thread type.  Obviously Richard has them in stock so I can hopefully finish that bit this weekend.  MOT day has slipped now to June.

Steering wheel nut is the same as every other 60s/70s Triumph on the road.

Throughout this restoration I have had one nagging worry, my windscreen surround is hideous! It was some very very poor plastic coated aluminium trash that didn't meet in the corners and looked like it had been fitted by a 5 year old.  It was faded and looked awful.  When I took the car for re spray the screen guy wouldn't  remove the screen because he said it was almost impossible to take out without breaking.  And then there was Richard.  The aluminium corners he provided looked quite difficult to fit but were in fact a doddle.  I rubbed down the plastic surround and treated it with acetone to rough it up.  Masked and painted and OMG what a difference.
