Sorry if you've seen this elsewhere but I needed to add it the full story
My luggage bay had been lined with horrible brown nylon fabric at some point.  It was ripped and tatty when I bought the project and even after I removed it all the finished surface was very uneven and tatty.  So I took it to my friendly re trimmer and he lined the sides with basket weave which hides the uneven surface. He then made me a removable padded base and added yellow piping to match the paint.

Where did you get the oil seals from?

I have gearboxes with the castleated alloy ring nut broken. Any ideas where to get replacements from?

I got mine from Richard at Banks. It's really important to ask him about the job because there are a couple of essential do & do nots.

Well this weekend saw the start of phase 3, starting to put this massive puzzle back together.

Mad panic this week, body shop has confirmed they are unwilling to paint my shell despite its trip to the soda blasting shop.  So I've worked late every night to finish the chassis so I had somewhere to put the shell.

Now that's looking just too god to go out on our wet and salty roads !   I'm sorry to hear about your paintwork/bodyshop troubles, I can't help but wonder if they don't feel up to the job and rather than take it on, want to step sideways and away.

Do you have any other options at the moment ?  DIY resprays are possible and there are plenty of owners who have gone this route. It's a daunting task but if you just concentrate on one panel at a time rather than attempting the whole car at once, it's achievable.  It's unlikely you'll match a professional finish though, and given the amount of work you're doing on the mechanicals it's probably worth seeing if another restoration shop will take it on before taking the plunge yourself.

That is looking fantastic.  But that is frustrating that the body shop backed out. Do you have more options for body shops close to you?

I just can't believe that you couldn't find another good paint shop to paint your body! Hopefully you'll find one soon! In the mean time, your frame looks great!

A full month of rest was required after a very busy November getting the chassis ready. So no progress photos to share but I recently received a batch of photos from the 70s kindly sent by the previous owners family.

Following a garage fire in 1981  Mr F removed the damaged shell.  He never disposed of this shell and it sat here for another 35 years.
