Wheel ID please
« on: Sunday,March 01, 2015, 09:54:44 PM »
These are the wheels on my S2:

Can anyone give me some details on these: what are they called? Are they likely to be original, or later?

Thanks!
Julian

I think they are Cosmic Alloys, which aren't OEM Lotus but a very popular aftermarket fitting back in the day. My car had steel wheels as bought but the first owner replaced them with 5x13 cosmics very early on in it's life.

I can't remember if the raised sections were polished or painted when new (probably polished ?) but mine were painted silver when I first got them.  Here's the 1972 brochure from the company.

Thanks for the brochure!

Contrary to what the brochure says, they are NOT light.  They might even be heavier than the stock steel wheel.

Hello Julian yes they are Cosmic and the raised parts came polished from the manufacturer. They were (in the 70's) super popular
they do look good painted and polished
happy motoring

Brilliant! Thanks for the info and the brochure.

Looks from the brochure like they weigh 11.5 lbs.
