Europa roll cage issues

Guys,

Some information on Banks roll cages.

As the europa I am restoring has race history and may well race it, I want to install a decent roll cage. I had decided to use a Banks roll cage and put my order into Banks several months ago. In chasing Richard at Banks he has had a problem with his supplier and my not sell any more roll cages as his subcontractor has put up his prices significantly. Richard is trying to sort it but didn't sound very hopeful on the phone today (it is always interesting talking to him!).  I do hope he can sort it as I do think his cages is the neatest and best for the Europa.
Views really from anyone and I suppose I am now looking for alternatives if anyone has any ideas. We may also be able to help ..encourage Richard in keeping going on the supply chain for roll cages

Richard's supplier is http://www.rollcentre.com/ If Richard doesn't want to pursue it, you can try to contact them directly. Custom-cages do an S1 rollcage, but they aren't very certain of their measurements, so they will prefer it if they can install it and they are quite expensive.

If Richard's cage turns out to be a dead end, I would suggest you contact a rollcage fitter near you, you have quite a lot of choice in the UK, and you can find some reviews of any fitters online.

I might do my own S1 cage, but I'm not quite sure yet. The fitters in Belgium and the Netherlands are quite expensive and they don't know all of the caveats for Europa roll cages.

Hi dave,

if Richard is not able to supply you with a cage, I would also recommend a company, which fits the cage directly into the car.

Even with very common cars like the Ford Escort Mk1 you can't buy any rollcage and it fits. May brother built an Escort Twin Cam race car ten years ago and even the cage from OMP (!!!) was rubbish.

 Cheers guys thanks for your ideas, in will see what I can sort out, I will progress with Richard further to see if that clears. My plan was to fit the roll cage early in the rebuild process and do it before I got the body painted or did any major fitting out.
Any views on when best to the the roll cages, could I get the body painted before I address the roll cage and what chassis mods are needed to fit a decent roll cage. Don't want to paint the chassis then find I need to wells some plates on.
