Just a quick question in addition to my thread about my S2 rebuild. I've got a Renault Espace diesel gearbox where the clutch release arm is pushes the release bearing (Renault/Ford Pinto hybrid!) onto the Pinto clutch pressure plate I'm using. Now all assembled there is no movement of the clutch release fingers when I try and move the arm with a long bar, seems just solid - release bearing has free play. What's going on?
I'm a bit ignorant over how the fingers work - is using different thickness of friction plate causing this?
Also I've bought a spare NG3 Renault 21 Berlina box from Spain. The release arm is in a different position and looks like it pushes the release bearing away from the clutch... another mystery!!
I attach a few pics of the 21 box
