If you loosen the top two nuts on the column to dash mount and the clamp on the steering shaft, you can slide the steering wheel assembly much closer to the seat. Maybe 4" more. The clamp on the shaft will only let it go so far.

Yep, I'll look at that, too, when everything is assembled.
What I'd really like is the steering column pointed straight ahead but that likely means introducing another joint and all the hassle associated with that.
