S1 Headliner Material
« on: Monday,February 27, 2023, 11:42:07 AM »
It is my understanding that the original headliners for the S1 Europas were from the Hillman Imp?  Please see attached pix of my 460202 headliner.  Could anyone tell me if this is the original material?  It is about 1/4" thick and I do like the ribbed texture but I need to replace it and would like to be assured that I'm replacing it with the correct texture and color.

Thank you for the confirmation.  You don't by chance know of a source for it do you?  I will begin the search for the material and let you know if I can find something similar.

The original headlining material hasn’t been available for decades.

My S1, I'm also in Northern California and I'm also working on my headliner.  It looks like people are using Whipcord from SMS Auto Fabrics.  https://smsautofabrics.com/pages/headliners
Do you know if the headliner tucks into the windshield seal?  My car didn't have a headliner when I got it and I've never done one before.

I used sms whipcord.  It's more difficult to install since you need to keep the lines straight.
And yes, It tucks under the windshield seal gasket.
