Tcs clutch plate
« on: Friday,June 10, 2022, 08:07:11 AM »
I have just had my original low mileage borg and beck clutch plate re lined. However I am not certain that all is good. Firstly I can not find the specifications for the thicknes in the on line manual, and stupidly I did not measure my old one before sending it off. Also my original linnings had a thin sheet steel backing, and that is on both linnings not the central part. The new linnings do not have this and are just  riveted on as normal. I have looked at a NOS clutch disc I have for a 60s sprite and the linnings are also backed with steel sheet.

Clutch plate relining is great for big rigs, etc.  In theory it should be fine for cars too but in my experience it does not work out well.  Did a few but always ended up having to switch it out for new.  Buy a new, matched, pressure plate and disc kit.  That way you only do it once and it last a long time.
