WTB: Working TC handbrake lever
« on: Saturday,May 07, 2022, 06:15:08 PM »
Subject says it all.  Looking for part C036J0751W (which is called out as item 6 on section JA of the parts manual.)  The pawl on mine (that holds the handbrake in position when you pull on it...) seems to have gone walkabout, so I know that will not pass the yearly inspection.

Appreciate any leads, or, even better...a working handbrake.  TIA

Since Lotus actually made so few parts, what car does the brake lever originate from?
Likely to be easier to find from the original donor.

Early Europa (Mk1/2? The one with the white button ) from Renault, later (TwinCam/Special - pull on and twist to release) from Ford.

From this page it looks like both were used on early Lotus Cortina and Cortina GT

Even the reaction level looks the same from that exploded parts diagram.

Beat me to it!  Pretty sure Colin's boys had a pretty free run of Ford's parts bins in addition to the other bits they were buying.

I have a couple Renault handbrake assemblies (minus the cable and end fitting)...time to go digging even more deeply in my stash back in PA to see if I can assemble a complete lever assembly.
