Block the holes to restrict airflow
« on: Tuesday,April 16, 2024, 07:11:17 PM »
Hi everybody,

The plan is not to block the holes in the emulsion tube but to limit the airflow (holes?) on the carb face. This is an easy thing to try as it only requires removing the air filter and the plastic cover on the front of the carbs. I had read about blocking them from several sources, so I thought why not give it a try. If it works fine, if not then go back to looking for an alternative. Here's a stolen photo of what I intend to block (or maybe just restrict depending on how things go):

In terms of needles, the carbs have dynojet needles and are located in the center channel. The main jets are 160. At WOT it howls, at idle it's smooth, just exiting idle is problematic.

Welcome!

You show a motorcycle carb.  What carb on what engine are you actually referring to?

Hmmmm, this is nearly a verbatim copy of a post I made on the Locost site (part way down the page):  https://locostusa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=15703&start=195

In any case, all that was required was going up a few sizes on the pilot jets.

Welcome to the forum. Good luck with your carb issues. Cheers  :beerchug:
The Twin Cam plays the symphony whilst my right foot conducts the orchestra. At 3800 rpm the Mad Pipe Organ joins in.

After checking Roddy's post on the locost forum there's no doubt that ramiroflores simply copied Roddy's old post and changed the first line.  Why would somebody do that?  Ramiro, perhaps you'd like to explain...
