S2 front dust shields - necessary?
« on: Saturday,October 09, 2021, 06:21:39 AM »
Putting my front suspension back together after 18 months sitting on my garage floor.  I don't see the disk dust shields anywhere and am starting to question if they were ever there.

Where's the harm in just running the system without dust shields?  Has anyone else removed them?  Is there an easy source for replacements?  I found stainless ones out of the UK, but that seems overkill for a car that will never be driven in Winter.

As an aside, rebuilding the 50 year old Koni's was going to be more than replacing them with brand new adjustable Spax shocks from RD Enterprise, so a big thanks to him.  New shocks and springs all the way around was about $1300.

Not necessary.
