Misaligned Alernator pulley?
« on: Friday,July 23, 2021, 02:28:12 AM »
Hi
Thanks to a few great insights from members I've now got the engine running sweetly but one thing I noticed is that alteration fan belt doesn't quite align with the cam pulley - see photo - and apart from taking out a washer, there doesn't seem to be an obvious ajustment. Is this normal?
Cheers

Do you have the sliding tube spacer in the bottom hole?

Yes I do but it looks to be at the limit of adjustment...?

All I can add is that my pivot bolt is a very snug fit,and with the sliding tube in the alternator ear it can’t go out of alignment.  Minor issue, removed alternator to fit new belt, decided to get alternator checked, tested ok,but,on disassembly found two burnt spots on stator !! Now being rewound.

Thanks for the interest. I'll take the alternator off and check the joints.

It's hard to tell from your photo but it looks to be roughly in the right spot but just slightly crooked.  If so, remove the alternator and see if the mounting holes are ovalized.

I don't think you have a real issue. I have seen way worse on many applications.
