Shifter arm height, interior TCS
« on: Thursday,May 06, 2021, 12:40:35 PM »
Looking for the stock shifter arm height from the plastic console to the top of the shifter arm threads. Any help appreciated.

I'm a bit confused. Are you looking for the distance from the console cover under the gater to the threads in the shifter that the shift knob screws on to?

I'm confused why you'd want to know this too.

Is it because you are making your own lever/shift mechanism?

For standard I didn't think it was adjustable as it's set by where the pivot at the base of the lever mounts into the chassis backbone.

Yes BDA, correct . SilverBeast, using a Porsche cable shifter box but with the stock shifter arm modified to fit. Appears in pictures I have seen on the net the shift knob is about level with the bottom of the wood dash?

Will this do?

Sorry, that picture of my knob is bigger than I thought...

Now that I know more about what you're doing, I would think the more important dimension would be from the ball joint in the frame to the top. That's a much more difficult thing to measure in my car.

Measuring from the console cover to just under the shift ball is pretty close to 5 1/2". My console cover is covered with vinyl so it's actually a smidge less than that but I'm sure there are enough variations across Europas that the thickness of the vinyl would be insignificant.

Hope that helps.
