FS Europa Twin Cam, Federal, 1972
« on: Thursday,November 19, 2020, 09:21:56 AM »
Reluctant sale due to advancing years, of owner rather than car, and declining physical ability to look after it.

1972 Europa Twin Cam Federal. Bought in 2008, complete rebuild since. Photos show the car arriving, body off, chassis cleaned up and painted, wheels and suspension back on, body back on, and completed car.
The car is very clean, Porsche Guards Red paint in great shape. Seats re-upholstered and interior refreshed.
Come and see it, drive it. It’s nice! $20,000.

Modifications:
1.   Air Horns and compressor in nose.
2.   Brakes. Master cylinder from Triumph Spitfire, with remote reservoirs each with fluid level sensors and warning light in cockpit. Brake servos deleted.
3.   Auxiliary switch in cockpit for cooling fan.
4.   Electrical circuits overhauled. Multiple fuses and relays to eliminate voltage drop due to ancient switches. Revised circuit diagram provided, paper and digital.
5.   Radio replaced, but 8-track available if so desired. Automatic antenna.
6.   Reverse gear selection by lift-up on gear lever.
7.   Clutch pedal extended for smoother operation.
8.   Carburetters modified for adjustable needles. U.K-sourced high-level balance pipe inlet adapters (from Elan S4) fitted. Emission control apparatus removed.
9.   New distributer with Pertronix Ignitor replacing points and condenser. Bosch coil, re-sited for convenient access. Tachometer modified to suit.
10.   4-branch tubular exhaust manifold (header) replacing cast iron original.
11.   New oil pump.
12.   Facet electric fuel pump.
13.   Replacement camshafts to Type D specifications. (As fitted to Elan Sprint, Plus2 130 and Europa Twin Cam Special in UK.)
14.   Aluminium flywheel and HD clutch.
15.   High-performance gear reduction starter.
16.   Adjustable rear suspension lower links.
17.   Replacement springs and Spax adjustable dampers (shock absorbers) fitted all round.

Gorgeous Europa, Roger. Very smart!
The Twin Cam plays the symphony whilst my right foot conducts the orchestra. At 3800 rpm the Mad Pipe Organ joins in.

Beautiful example of a restored Europa, hope you get your price, well worth it. Unfortunately in a few more years, there will be more Europas up for sale as we older owners start reaching that age where you are now. Good luck.

Also your pictures need to be bigger to see the details more clearly.

I looked at the pics too. They are bigger than a thumbnail but not the kind of big and clear you want when selling a restored car online. If you go to bring a trailer and click on any auction you'll see the difference. Big, high res pics are a must if the vehicle is something to show off and you want the prospecting customer to see.

Great looking car, good luck!

The photos are fine.  Anyone interested in actually buying it will ask for more, higher resolution photos.
