eBay 1973 Europa
« on: Monday,March 01, 2021, 02:33:21 PM »
I guess this is a good sign?  I see 10 bids pushing the car upwards of $12,000.  And not hitting the reserve!  Photos show no windscreen, no rear glass, very little interior and a seized engine.  No title.  Owner knows little to nothing about the car.

Does this mean our day is coming?  Are our treasured cars pushing up in value?  Or am I missing something?

I don't see $12K of value.  I do, however, see $40K of work required.

I'd take the 12k and run.

Looked at the bid history, sudden VERY big jump to too high, and still "Reserve not met".
Seems odd and not confidence inspiring.

As has already been pointed out, the S2 body shape, Renault (?) engine and a very strange bidding history. Who goes from $2k to $12k with one bid ? I don't blame the seller for knowing nothing about the car although he does have a very optimistic idea of the reserve value. It's a bodyshell needing work with an interesting collection of rust, I couldn't see it making that money even over here.

Something is very, very wrong when this Europa is still available for far less and more "complete".

the sudden surge in the bidding seems very odd, I'd be far happier to take a look at the car that Grumblebuns posted above  :I-agree:

That is the shadiest seller. Someone sprayed gray primer and dusted it to hide a lot of something. It was far from ready for primer. I feel bad for who ever buys it.

Weird bid history.

Bidder 3***6 offers $1,677.77.
Two minutes later, the same bidder ups the ante to $11,940.00
