I have recently had a reason to check into my ignition system (it turned out that everything is good. My problem turned out to be fouled spark plugs. This is a good teaching moment - test and resolve the easy (and/or cheap) possibilities first (one of basic those rules that I so often forget!)
But forgetting that rule ended up giving me a better understanding of the ignition system. I haven't had that many ignition problems so this experience had some positives.
I've attached a document tests that the Pertronix tech guy sent me. It's for Pertronix systems but there are useful tests for any ignition system for a vintage car.
