There are several Fuego trannies listed in car-part.com (list parts from salvage yards across the US). That doesn't mean they actually exist but if you are looking for one, it would be worth a call. Make sure you tell them that it's a transaxle because the person you talk to won't necessarily know that. You may have to tell them that there are two output shafts, etc.

I got mine from what is now lotus-supplies many years ago. There are some mods that you should make to the bell housing and the end cover. The end cover mods depend on whether you want a cable shifter or not. The non-cable shifter mods are spelled out in great detail here: http://www.greytower.com/jon/lotus/europa/gearbox/gearbox.html

One site that is very handy is the Europa Central Document page (http://lotus-europa.com/manuals/). There is a LOT of information there about most topics having to do with a Europa.

Before embarking on additional modification I just want to get it going as is.
I have other cars that will be much faster when I feel the need for speed.
The Europa may be supreme for cornering and certainly scratches an itch of long duration.

I hope to begin assembling the engine for my truck this evening.

Well, I did get the truck engine block painted today. :)
So tomorrow I should be able to get it mostly assembled.
Taking my time, cannot make a mi$take even if it is just a SBC.

Shooting for the sixth or seventh to go after the Europa.

Wondering where I might order a decent but not extravagant quality car cover to fit?
Not sure what the weather will be and might like to cover the Europa during transport.

MG Mitten (if you're old enough to remember them) used to sell "Lotus Leotards" which were fitted for Elans and Europas at least are over so you'll have to find a generic car cover for a small car. They shouldn't be too hard to find and Amazon or ebay would be the sellers of last (or first) resort.
