TC main cap washers
« on: Tuesday,August 04, 2020, 07:53:30 PM »
Newbie putting together a twincam from boxes.
Parts book shows lock washers for the main caps,
Are they just regular lock washers? Wave washers or lock tabs,
Connecting rods show no washers on the cap bolts.
All bolts are present but no washers that would be specific to main or rod caps,
Any info would be appreciated.

Have the rods tested to make sure they are true and the big end is round.  It is not unusual to have to resize the big ends.  Then THROW AWAY the old rod bolts and buy new ones.  This is one example of a good replacewment:

Welcome to the forum, DB. JB has good advice on rod bolts. Good luck with the engine. :beerchug:
The Twin Cam plays the symphony whilst my right foot conducts the orchestra. At 3800 rpm the Mad Pipe Organ joins in.

Went ahead and assembled the bottom end last weekend with my daughter,
Did the chain case yesterday,
Tried to load a photo but no luck,
8,000 mile car that sat since 77,
So just crank polished std/std, new bearings, water pump etc,
And going back in the car soon.
