S1 gear linkage measurement

Can anyone help me with a measurement please, the linkage tube from the gear lever has been modified by a previous owner and I want it back to standard so I need a measurement from the gear lever fixing bolt hole centre to the centre of the pin in the rear of the same tube if possible.  Hopefully someone has a linkage out of there car!
Any help would be most appreciated

A bit tricky to measure but I get 803 mm using a steel rule.

I have two and they are both different lengths, sigh.

I have one at 804mm and other at 824mm.

Mine came with pieces from an S2 as well so one is a 046F0123 and the other is a 054F0123.  If Gavin's is from an actual S1, that would confirm the 803-ish measurement.

My car is a Type 54 S2 so I'm presuming the forward link I have is the original part.

The 824 mm length is rather different.
IIRC some S1's had the bell-crank arrangement fixed to the engine didn't they?
Maybe that accounts for the 824 mm one? - I'm totally guessing here.

I’m not sure now then, I’ve just checked the measurement on the modified linkage and that measures 805mm so I was hoping the 803/804mm was correct

The relay linkage after the link to the gearshift lever bolts to the engine in an S1.  So, I'd say the S1 linkage would be longer and 824mm would be correct.  That only works if you have the rest of it as well.

OK thanks for that I do have the rest of the linkage and it looks like it’s only this part that’s been modified.  Another question I have is when the gear lever is bolted into the fork I understand it uses a stepped bolt which will allow the lever to move backwards and forwards but is it bolted up tight so there’s no side to side movement? Only by the complete rod moving left to right in the joint to the rear and in the gearstick ball?

So, yes, the shouldered bolt tightens up fully.  There are plastic bushings that allow free movement back and forth but keep things tight side to side.

Excellent thanks very much for the pics they’re most helpful, I think I’ll get a new length of tube and make this up in one, the rear with the drop pin is still intact on mine but instead of joining I think it’ll be easier in one piece.  The rear linkage rod is still available but not the front.
