Interesting bit of information.  As I am not of an age that would have dealt with these documents in period I find them fascinating. 

I scanned both and noticed the twin cam had a few amendments for the special with aluminium wheels and 5 speed. I also found another cylinder head and the Hewland at the end of the document.  Is that cylinder head a BDA?  Interesting intake ports or exhaust what ever they may be.

I would think the cylinder heads refer to the Stromberg and Weber heads.

Back when I was racing, I knew a guy who raced a TC. He tried to get the SCCA to allow BDA heads if I remember correctly, on the grounds that the BDA head was the next iteration of the Kent engine development and because the Datsun 240Z (and 260Z and 280Z) had a torque and power advantage (not to mention Datsun support) over him that his lighter weight was not able to overcome (Jensen Motors' TC not withstanding). They never allowed it. Now, I don't think that SCCA production classes are controlled by FIA homologation, but I would think that FIA homologation is likely a factor in some decisions.

The head in the photo definitely looks like a Cosworth head, but a little farther along in the documentation they show an addendum listing the cams as gear driven, which would lead me to believe the FVA was homologated for group 4 racing.

Thanks for the post John, very interesting.  I'm not familiar with what Group 3 nor Group 4 specs are, but its interesting that the FT200 and the Cosworth head were apparently approved.

Note the valves in the forefront of the head are too large for the BD head.  Perhaps a bit of misleading chicanery by Lotus??

Do these bits help with getting the FT200 approved for our local VR classes??  hope so, as the trans would really help.
