Found a Europa close to me
« on: Sunday,June 16, 2019, 05:00:35 PM »
As i was surfing the net i came across an ad wich is pretty rare in my area
It said lotus project for sale 750 dollars cdn jumped on the phone talked to a very nice lady and went to see but sadly enough it was more parts than a project
there is a complete body but cracked all over all the body is there exept for one front window pillar
The frame is under the car looks decent except for the front section wich is bent and rusted
There is 2 or three boxes of parts like brake master steering wheel markers signal lights the doors have the glass and handles
but there is nothing i really need she told me make me an offer i said she would be better off  to advertise on this forum as parts car cause to me it wasn’t worth much but if someone needs a door or a fender or a corner i told he the body is to damaged that if i would buy it i would cut it up to keep spare body parts here are the pictures

The price is really good but looking at the pictures it’s hard to see all the damages but the body is in really bad shape you can’t really see by the pictures when i saw the pictures i was running back and forth trying to control my exitement but when i saw it up close the poor thing is falling apart i thought they could all be saved but this one is way to damaged there’s no suspension engine tranny rad
i tried to open the door passenger side just fell off
That car was used as a parts car to restore one wich the lady is asking 42,000 Canadian for so the few spare parts are all rusted or damaged but put in boxes and comes with the body
when they dismantled it they just ripped off the body to get to the mecanical parts the holes to attach the body are torn out
i told the lady if someone would have a europa and needs a door then it might be worth it but for me
like i said there is nothing i could use
If you need info let me know or if this could help someone to restore their europa it would be nice
I told the lady about this site so you should see it soon in the classified

I didn’t see or notice any tags on body or frame

that's not a Lotus number (I believe)
the VIN should be on a plate pop-riveted to the buttress under the front hood/trunk area.   The other plate should be along the top of dash under windshield on driver's side.

I didn’t see any tags on the body and for the ashtray
i would say maybe at the bottom of a box not sure
actually there is one part wich i would have kept and its the plastic container on the brake master cylinder cause they are getting very rare but i didn’t check it properly but looing at the picture it looks like there is damaged underneath

The more rectangular ones are pretty easy to find and it's not a hard job to make a "bump" in the floor to make clearance for it. It's even easier if you start with fiberglass sheet.
