Engine not running, Oil pressure sender shows 100

I think it's a fault that it shows 100 psi when the engine is not running, but I became unsure when I saw the sender. Anyone got suggestions? The sender is the cylindrical thing in the picture with red paint peeling off.

It's just that I expected a much smaller sender.

That implies that there is not very much resistance. Maybe the wire is grounding somewhere. Try unplugging the wire from the sender and see if the gauge returns to zero.

Take the wire off the sender.  Gauge should read zero.  If not, there is a short to ground somewhere, or a fault in the gauge itself.

Now touch the wire to ground, gauge should, swing to max.  If the gauge reads zero and max when tested, change the sending unit.

Don't forget you still have a oil pressure warning light.  As long as the light goes out, you're fine though I wouldn't drive it hard until you get the pressure gauge fixed.

Ok, I have tried to disconnect the wire, and the gauge went to zero. I will try to ground it too. I found a sender at Banks, I think it's a bit expensive, is this the one I should buy?

The car have run a long distance like this, I think. I don't think the PO was aware of this, he thought the oil pressure actually went up. I have driven 360 km and not too easy, I think. I am wondering how healthy the engine is.
