Introduction and New Europa Book
« on: Saturday,November 18, 2017, 11:58:27 AM »
Hi There

I'm Matthew Vale, and have written a couple of books on the Elan and Elite/Eclat/Excel. I've just been commissioned to  write one on the Europa and have already been talking to a number of UK based Europa owners - S2, TC and Specials. I'm restoring a brace of Plus 2s at the moment, nut and bolt level so know a bit about the twink and glass fibre but know that I'm still learning!
I'd like to contact a couple of S1 owners with a view to interviewing one or more of them for the book and to get some pictures of the unique S1 features. I'm based in Hampshire in the UK so can travel a reasonable distance to see any S1s, but there don't seem to be to many in captivity in the UK - unless you guys know differently!
Looking forwards to hearing from you....
Regards
Matt

Hello Matt,

 :Welcome:

If you could travel further afield you could try to meet up with Serge who has the oldest known S1 in existence (he’s in Belgium I believe?)
He is restoring his car and has recorded most of his work as he’s gone along.
There are only a few S1 cars in the UK but, as my car is in need of a full restoration, it wouldn’t offer you very much to look at!

Welcome Matt,

I indeed have the earliest of S1's (#460002), and is currently undergoing restoration. There are 3 more S1's in Belgium that I know of. And a three or more in the Netherlands.

If you have any questions or would like some information, don't hesitate to ask.

You can take a look at the story of my car on:

Kind regards,

Serge

Hi Matt,

If you want to see the TCS cars stripped down in various stages of decay and restoration, I have a collection in Norfolk.

:Welcome: , Matt! Sorry I can't help you with S1s, but I'd love to read your book when you're done.

Don't forget the very rare Else Europa. Only 2 left in England and 1 in Ireland that I can find.
