Door panel attachment

I have almost completed the restoration of my 74 tcs.  i installed my newly upholstered door panels with new sacs and clips I bought from RD.  After three or four door closings, various clips are loose and no longer hold the panel to the door.  I ensured all the sac holes in the door were the correct size.

Does anyone have a better solution to attaching the door panel to the door?  i have fought this issue since I bought the car in 1985.  That's a lot of frustration.

When I was building my car - about eighteen years ago and Ray may have different sacs and clips now - I got a set of the plastic sacs (didn't know that's what they were called) and the spring steel clips. The clips seemed to grab the sacs properly by themselves. The sacs seem to fit the holes in my door properly but when I tried the new clips, the sacs didn't want to grab the clips. I am at a loss to explain it. I've been using my original clips and sacs.


I haven't tried it yet, but I might try Velcro. Hopefully, it wouldn't push the panel out from the door significantly.

I ended up using velcro as well as RD's clips. Bought the velcro without adhesive and then used contact cement to glue to door and panel. Seems to work pretty well.

I would use the velcro with adhesive.

I think the delicate application of two black  trim screws with countersunk washers would ensure it doesn't move again

I just had the same issue with my door panels I had re-covered.

Bought the ones from RD - but - just too short and not holding the panel in place.

I found the below in the local Canadiantire store. They are for a Ford

Had to cut off the top of the plastic retainers and the hold the panel perfectly - no need for any retainer screws.
