mystery switch
« on: Friday,October 04, 2024, 03:55:12 AM »
Hi,
Can anyone tell me what the electrical device on the right hand side of the gearbox is?
It's just behind the driveshaft and it has 2 wires coming from it going into the loom. The gearbox is a 5 speed Renault unit.
Looks a bit like a pressure sensor.
Thanks,
Baffled of Manchester

If you short out the two wire connector clips with the ignition on, the white reversing lights should both light up.

When you select reverse, the selector shaft hits the back of the sensor to make that connection.

Duh,
Of course it is. I don't know about 'older and wiser', I seem to be getting older and dumber.
Thanks for the replies.
