Anti roll bar width????
« on: Monday,September 26, 2016, 05:27:28 PM »
I have a 68 S2 and the front anti roll as well as most parts were sitting inside the car.  The bar measures 42" center to center.  Does this seem like the right bar measurement?  Seems rather wide!  Anyone have a S2 anti roll bar to check.  Thanks. Tom

It's fine.  I don't have one off the car but mine measures 42" across on the car.

To fit the anti-roll bar, I normally use a ratchet strap wound tightly around each end, so that when I tighten the ratchet, it brings the ends together.

Otherwise, I could not find a way of getting the sprung bar to fit the ends of the front shockers.

Make sure you fit it the right way up, as the ends with the holes in are slightly angled.

Mine's not like that Alex, if the car is at ride height it's a fairly light push to get it in place.  Are you fitting with the suspension on full droop ? I tend to assemble everything else but leave the ends until the car's on it's wheels and suspension settled when it just pops over the studs.

With the bar laying on the ground do the ends with the holes point up or down.

It's obvious if you get it wrong Tom, the flat ends of the bar are twisting the rubber bushes on the studs all over the place and it just looks wrong. Also you'd probably struggle to get the nuts onto the studs because the bottom bush would be pushed so far out of place.
