Just wanted to post my experience this last year or so with the dreaded loose rear axle nuts.
In short, I have not (yet.... knock wood?) experienced any loss of torque since changing to Coneloc type mechanical locking nuts.
Note the washers under the nuts are now spacers giving the correct amount of thread for the nut to work with.
I still check the torque on a regular basis but they sit exactly as originally set (which has been 160lb, maybe I'll drop that back to 150 now).
Have only removed the nuts once to do some work on the hubs, they removed easily and haven't caused any noticable damage to the axle threads.
I'm treating these nuts as single use, so removed nuts go in the bin.
If you don't know of these nuts, Google is your friend, plus the friendly fastener salesman down the road.
Happy to be told why these nuts are not appropriate, I couldn't find any reason why not originally.
