door opening to wide

Sorry for asking all the new member questions -

my driver side door is opening to wide and damaging the front bottom corner.

Is there anything I can adjust to reduce how far the door opens?

There are no stupid questions... etc. 

There is no adjustment on the door other than the position in the cavity. There is a tube through which wires to the window motors run. I believe that along with the size of the hole in the door that it goes through (that would be on the leading edge of the door) is what stops the door from opening too much. Possibly, that tube is damaged or missing or the hole in the door has gotten too big.
