I wanted to sum up my LED conversion for the Europa. I have an S2.
After my father picked up his A8 with LED headlight I spent a few mins on YouTube looking up LED headlights and was surprised Audi was not the first. I knew there were LED alternatives to smaller applications like brake lights and turn signals, but was surprised to find headlight solutions. This got my gears turning.
I saw two major benefits
• Much better light output then the current incandescent
• Much less draw on the electrical system- 1.80amps (low beam), 3.60 amps (high beam)
Didn’t take long to decide on a product from Truck-Lite: Truck-Lite 7" round phase 7 (~$400)
While there are other solutions my research determined the phase 7 to be the best of all things.
After receiving the units I ask myself an obvious question, why not all the other lights in the car? The following is a list of bulbs now installed in my car:
Headlights
From Discount Fleet Supply Truck-Lite 7" round phase 7 (~$400) (1300 Lm)
Dashboard:
From Moss Motors the 6 gauge lights, Gauge lights (~$9 each)
From Super Bright Lights BA7S (~$1 each) These are for the assorted check lights on the dash, 1 green, 1 blue, 2 amber, 1 red.
Front Turn signals:
From The Grafx shop Dual-Color 60x SMD LED Switchbacks White/Amber (~$30) (300 – 600 Lm). What I like about these, they are very bright and they stay white, like DRL and when you signal, they flash amber white amber white. In conjunction with these I bought, from R&D the clear turn signal lenses (~$24)
Brake lights:
From Super bright lights 1157-RHP28-T Red (~$50) (550Lm)
Back up lights:
From Super Bright Lights 4410-NW9 Natural White (~$2.50 each) (40 Lm)
Cabin light:
From Super Bright Lights LED3710-WWHP6 Warm White (~$15) (95 Lm)
