Hello all

 :newhere:

Hello from sydney - grew up loving Europas - stumbled upon one and just started restoration on a bit of a barn find - S2 chassis 7005 1402 00Q . The car was just a runner but had been let go for some years . The car features on page 190 of Marc shagens book " lotus - the historic sports and racing cars of Australia " and came with a CAMS logbook

The renault engine seems good . Fitted with webers which will get checked over .

On sanding , the original colour was yellow with changes to red , green then back to yellow with green central stripes . Not sure about colour yet - looking at the gold leaf team red over white ...

Will be replacing all the rubber bits , renovating the moveable bits and generally getting her back to " new " . Am taking pics so will post those during the build

Have a strong attachment to Lotus with S1 Elise , S1 Exige , 340r , S2 Exige ( cup 240 )  in the garage and having recently sold the NA Evora getting an IPS S later this year as can't do without one - fabulous car !

Look forward to learning heaps about the new project !

Welcome Rob! You are obviously certifiable with all those Loti!  ;)

I can't wait to see your pictures! Good luck with the restoration!

Hi Rob, and welcome to the forum.

That's an interesting collection of cars and it sounds like you've got a barn,  not just a mere garage  :)

Like the other folks I'll look forward to hearing more about your restoration, make sure to take plenty of photos as you go along. Although taking off so much paint won't be a quick job, but with that number of coats on it'll be like getting another 20bhp out of the engine when you're done   ;)

cheers

Brian

This is all a bit interesting for a couple of reasons.

2 Sundays ago I talked to a guy at the Myrniong (VIC) sprints about a Europa he bought at one stage for the BDA engine that was in it (a vehicle that had been crashed).
The chassis number you list is on the S2 registry as being in VIC Australia (as of 2007 at least) and having been CAMS log booked with a BDA engine.

Is it the same car repaired and returned to Renault power perhaps?
If it is it has an interesting history and possibly parts included.
Would be good to email Jerry with the current status and ownership.

:Welcome: Welcome to the forum, Rob. Looking forward to seeing your Europa come back to life. Cheers
The Twin Cam plays the symphony whilst my right foot conducts the orchestra. At 3800 rpm the Mad Pipe Organ joins in.
