Perforated Vinyl Upholstery Material
« on: Friday,June 21, 2024, 11:55:10 AM »
Does anyone have a source for the perforated vinyl? OTHER THAN SMS...steer clear of those pirates.  I have been unable to locate it in the US.  Are there any UK, EU sources who have the material and could run the heat pleats?  Thanks.

this is were i bought mine

https://www.martrim.co.uk/car-trimming-supplies/product-details.php?productId=228

We had to fill the flutes, to get them more pronounced.

The welds are not perfect all the time so we stitched them all over to make sure they don't rip from the backing.
Besides that i am very happy with the material.

That is interesting you mention Martrim, though it sounds like you had to defeat the purpose of the exercise by re-stitching them.  I'll see if they can send me a sample.

After collecting more than a dozen carpet samples from suppliers in the US and UK (literally a dozen or more), I found the perfect carpet material from Martrim.  It is wool and thicker, but the pattern is quite close to the original glove box "bag" carpet in my car.

I don't know what SMS is.  So many acronyms here and on the other forum.  Who knows what they all mean?

I got this fabricated seat bottom from Lotus Supplies.  Not great customer service, but they ultimately came through.  They have a fabricator make them.  I haven't fitted them yet, but they look like good quality.

SMS is a custom automotive upholstery fabric manufacturer up in Oregon that did perfect work thirty years ago but has now fallen into disgrace.

That aside,  the Lotus Supplies material looks great.  I'll get a hold of them and see if they would sell me just the fabric.  Many thanks.

If anyone trips across a cloth that looks close and is durable I would be VERY interested!
Vinyl in my area is going to be hot and sticky no matter how textured.
