Saw this S2 on Craigslist this morning. Located in Redondo Beach So Cal. Not too bad looking for a somewhat modified car. Lots of pictures
https://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/cto/d/redondo-beach-1969-lotus-europa-s2/7691378545.htmlThis 1969 Lotus Europa was a stalled father-son project said to have stayed with two families since new and has been modified with custom bodywork and a removable vinyl targa top. Power is from a Gordini 1.6-liter inline-four fitted with a Weber carburetor and crossflow Hemi cylinder head linked with a four-speed manual gearbox. The car is finished in green over a recently reupholstered black interior, and equipment includes a front air dam, custom switchgear, and more. Period Correct Four-lug alloy wheels wear fresh TOYO PROXES R888 R tires, 205/60R13 86V in the rear, 185/6oR13 80V in the front.
Service in preparation for the sale included cooling system work, fuel tank repair, carburetor adjustment, water pump replacement, and an overhaul of the wood dash and aluminum interior trim. The fiberglass bodywork is finished in green with matching rocker panel extensions and bumpers.
The interior features fixed-back seats that were reupholstered in black vinyl by John Parkhurst in October 2020, along with gray carpets and a refinished woodgrain dash that houses custom switchgear panels that were recently polished. Replacement wiring for the power windows, windshield wipers, and the dashboard is included in the sale. A three-spoke steering wheel with a Lotus center cap frames Smiths instrumentation including a 7k-rpm tachometer and a 140-mph speedometer. The five-digit odometer reads approximately 43k miles, though total mileage is unknown.
The mid-mounted 1.6-liter inline-four was reportedly sourced from a Renault R18 and overhauled over the course of two years by Ray Segale and is equipped with a Weber carburetor, crossflow cylinder heads, and an alternator. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a fresh four-speed manual transaxle. Service in preparation for the sale included adjustment of the carburetors, cooling system work, replacement of the starter and water pump, fuel tank repair, brake system rebuilt, steering and suspension updated and more.
