New TS rockers made of unobtainium?
« on: Wednesday,August 16, 2023, 09:56:24 PM »
Cannot find a hint of a trace of a source for new TS/Cross-Flow rockers.  >:(
The old set look 'Good', but with all I am spending new might be better.
New may be required for some of the tip treatments I am interested in.

Anyone?

Sorry, don't know of a source of new rockers presuming you've tried the usual suspects.
I see roller rockers in your future, Richard.  ;)

There's more than one thread on them here which should come up via search.

Search has failed me, seems to be a trend of late.
I know I have seen mention of builds using roller rockers on this site.
Apparently I am unable to find the correct magic word to find them.  :headbanger:

And down the rabbit hole we go!
Seems Toyota 2TC/3TC rockers are very? similar to Renault and roller rockers are available for them.
I am going to find a couple of used stock Toyo rockers for measurement.
It might be possible to get a custom roller set from someone who already do them for the Toyo's.
It may be a "Minor" dimension change for the Renault.

Email sent to Titan Motorsport UK.
I am sure a one-off set would be ghastly expensive.
Not sure how many would be required to get the cost down to reasonable, or how many might be wanted.
I made a point of mentioning the A110 crowd, they seem to have the deep pockets.  ;)

Tripped across these on a FB post from the UK Renault Classic Car Club.
Maybe is is "Time" someone does them?
Pictured are on a "R5 Gordini", whatever that is.
I have asked about a version for 17TS.

Here's one older thread:

Have a look at this link:
http://www.rockerarms.com

They appear to have a Renault set listed under "OTHER ASSEMBLIES".
I suspect this is the origin of the rockers discussed.

The Renault set at rockerarms.com are rebuilds of originals.
But they did do a few sets of rollers several years ago, as mentioned in the other linked thread.

More perusing the 'Web.
Apparently first generation R5 rockers are different than R16/R17.
Mecaparts have rockers for the R5 but nothing for the R16/R17.
R5 is iron block and a different engine but the family lineage is still strong.
So the guys doing R5 rockers would need a different program for TS heads.
