807 cylinder liner protrusion

HI:
Now a critical step:

I cleaned the bottom shoulder of the sleeve and the corresponding seat in the block.
I have put the thickest seal(blue) on the bottom of the #1 piston liner and put it into the block.
I used a dial indicator and found the protrusion to be 6 thou.
When the final assembly happens I will apply some silicon sealer on both sides of the seal(might give a thou +?).
Question:Is 6 thou enough(Haynes says yes),I would prefer something more like 10 thou?
Can I use two of the very delicate seal together?
What have you folks found?

Blue seals are the thinnest.  Yes you can stack seals.  Do not use silicone sealers as many of them react with coolant.  I would recommend Hylomar Blue or Permatex Aviation Gasket Maker #3.  Given the pressures involved, sealers add virtually nothing to spacer seal thickness.  0.006" is fine. 0.010" is too thick.  If you have the liners protruding too far, then other parts of the gaskets won't seal properly.  I check all four corners of each liner and make sure no part of the liner is under spec.  I also fit liners reversed and tested again so I could get the best orientation.

Thanks for the get back.
Yes I noticed I did use the Green(In my mind green for go)shim gaskets(age stage thing).
I did the 4 corner check and was ok.
I have a half a thou diff variance max to min across the four liners.
My plan is to use 1211 Three Bond on both sides of the shims.
I rebuilt the old 1470 in my Series 2 too many years ago and didn't use any sealers on the shims and it still goes.
A friend rebuilds Volvo's and swears by this 1211 stuff so that was my initial choice.
I am in no hurry to do this rebuild which allows for Q&A time.
You have a good manual on the 807's.

I can't find any where that 1211 is recommended for use with antifreeze.  1184 is though.  People can get very enthusiastic about sealants when they find a good one.  They can easily make the mistake of thinking it is good for everything.  Usually/always this is not the case.  Check the technical specs from the manufacturer over glowing endorsements from amateurs. I would not use 1211 myself based on what I have read so far.

Thanks for the advice.
That friend that told me about the 1211 had a CofQ for Volvo.
Like I said I have been piecing things together for this 807 for say 15+/- years and that is when I bought that other stuff.

I never used a sealant on the liner seals. Probably did a dozen engine assemblies (807G) with no leakage ever. I'd be be really wary of sealants on the paper seals.

Thanks for all the advice!!
It takes a village to raise a kid(or an engine).
Liners in,pistons/rings installed all clamped down for the 180 to work on the crank.
I will do a water leak test on the liners before going to nuts.
