S1 Coil Overs

Does any one know who is assembling these S1 coil overs for Dave Bean et al?  I have been unable to purchase them from DB and would like to go straight to the source.

You might have a hard time. I know Protech makes shocks that fit but don't sell it with the sway stud in the bottom but you can get them from SJS with the stud.  https://www.sjsportscars.com/parts-and-accessories.htm#searchresults

Protech sells a double adjustable too but SJS doesn't list it.

I don't know about Spax or or others selling direct with the sway bar mount.

Protechs use 1 7/8” springs.
r.d. sells SPAX. I believe their fronts have the stock sized spring perches (2 1/2”?).
Lotus Supplies sells AVO. I think all their shocks take 1 7/8” springs.
Dave Bean used to sell SPAX but I don’t know if they still do.
You should expect that all the front shocks these suppliers sell will have the requisite anti-roll bar mounting stud.

Dunno what shock Bean sells.  AVO, Spax, GAZ and others have shocks for Europas.  What f you know what spring rate and length you require, great.  If you are not sure, I would recommend going to a Europa specialist.

Myself, I got my S1 shocks from Banks/Lotus Supplies.  I specified AVO units with as close to stock springs as possible.  Mostly worked well.  Only trouble was with the poly bushes which perished rather too easily.  AVO sent another set free but they didn’t last either so I switched to Merlin Motorsport’s HD bushes for AVO shocks and have been trouble free ever since.

I specified stock springs as I wanted a good ride for my primarily street driven car.  Perfect! Best riding car I’ve ever ridden except for 60s and 70s Citroens.

One further note, S1s, and early S2s, must have the narrower springs as the wider springs don’t fit in the available space.

Yes, I think most/all AVOs are black.
