Seat foam
« on: Thursday,February 02, 2023, 07:02:39 AM »
It seems things always go out of hand when I rebuild a car: I was doing up the mechanicals of my twin cam and decided that painting the seat shells and replacing the rusted webbing below the seat cushion would be good idea. Took the seats to my usual upholsterer and he advised to change seat foams but he also showed that the hides were very, very dry. Now I will be changing the interiour colour as well and need new seat foams. Are you aware of any supplier in Europe selling foam sets? If not, the upholsterer will try to copy the existing ones, but thats likely very time consuming.

Thanks for the feedback.

Sorry but I don't know of any resource, I'm still Europa less. so haven't gotten to that yet
But in furniture restoration there is no foam that's readily available for a 100-year-old chair.  If customer wants a foam cushion I get a piece of foam - foam comes in many different types - and shape it using an electric carving knife.
It really doesn't take that long. and covering it leather is a ton easier than a thin silk fabric.
