40th anniversary of the death of Colin Chapman
« on: Friday,December 16, 2022, 03:49:50 AM »
40 years ago, on December 16th, 1982, Colin Capman suffered a heart attack and died at the age of 54.
I am sure the automotive as well as the motorsport world would look different today without him.

For me personally, his genius and commitment to his own principles have always been inspiring.

I read this one and enjoyed it.

You can't go wrong with a comic book biography, I sometimes find.

Now that's interesting. Never heard of such a thing. Got to get one.
The Twin Cam plays the symphony whilst my right foot conducts the orchestra. At 3800 rpm the Mad Pipe Organ joins in.

What is the best book to read about him?

There are a few books about Chapman ranging from the original authorised biography by Jabby Cromac to the last one I bought, "Inside the Innovator" by Karl Ludvigsen.

Cromac was a long term friend and arguably that influences his take on Chapman. The second book (at crazy prices compared to when I got mine) is a better book IMO, a heavy book with loads of early photos and details about how he went about building both road and racing cars.

Amazon links so you can see what they look like....
