Exhaust System Lap Joint Clamps
« on: Tuesday,August 09, 2022, 12:25:41 PM »
Found the following (I love mining the net for useful bits):

https://www.profusionexhausts.com/1-75-inch-45mm-stainless-steel-lap-joint-clamp-heavy-duty-exhaust-band-lp175ss/

They work fine on the RD-supplied TC exhaust system when I dry fit it together "Just to See".  Figure when time to mate it all up, a layer of firegum or equivalent at the joint, slide this over, and tighten will give me a gas-tight seal.

FWIW...also worked with Ray to get his new Facebook page linked into his site homepage on www.rdent.com
No financial interest, etc.  Just helping out a friend.

I have used that style of clamps in the past.  They work very well.

They just look like they'll be a lot more sturdy just from my dry-fit test than just a band clamp on one side of the joint.  It slipped together just fine, and pretty sure the firegum is a belt-and-suspenders meme, but...anything worth doing is worth overdoing, right?

I did a lot of exhaust systems in my day.  The slip joint fittings with u-clamps were sometimes pain to seal, difficult to disassemble afterwards, distorted the pipes creating a weak spot that corroded first, etc, etc.
