Swirl pot/coolant tank hose
« on: Tuesday,July 05, 2022, 09:05:51 AM »

Has anybody modified the pipe at the bottom of the swirl pot on their car?

I think there may be a small leak on mine, where the pipe is welded to the chassis. Was thinking
of cutting the bent steel piece out and replacing with a longer flexible hose.

Mine's just a normal rubber hose, I don't recall it ever having a steel pipe although from the parts list it should have had.  I don't remember throwing a steel pipe out either so presumably the first owner decided a rubber hose was easier....

The steel pipe is part of the chassis.

If that pipe is rusted through, just cut it at the horizontal straight part, make a 90' copper bend, and link the bend to the swirl pot with 2 pieces of 3/4" rubber hose.
