2.3 Lima vs Twin Cam bell housing pattern
« on: Saturday,March 12, 2022, 10:52:19 AM »
Thought I would throw a Ford 2.3 Turbo bell housing on the Twin Cam out of curiosity...

4 out of 6 bolts line up and a bell housing could be modified for the top two holes...
The more I do the more I find I need to do....remember your ABC’s …anything but chinesium!

Hard to tell from the photo but the Lima bell housing looks to be a bit long front to rear. Have you compared the length to a TC bell housing. Can you cut the rear flange section and replace it with a Renault pattern rear? If it works this may get around the scarcity of TC bell housings.

If you have enough fabrication skills, you can pretty much get anything to fit but in this case is it worthwhile. IF the starter hole and mount allow proper engagement and the clutch release mechanism is in the correct place, it might be worth it but in this case probably not.
