With the exception of the headers (why route the headers over the cam cover?), very nicely and cleanly done. I believe that is the first time I’ve seen a 2.0L Ford engine swap.

Lots of easily available Formula Continental headers would be my guess.

Thoughts on the driveshaft angles? Looks like the diff is a bit further back than the wheel center line.

Quite nicely done by the looks of things though, I agree.

I think you're right. I guess he couldn't find any Sports 2000 headers...

They have spent a lot of money and time but don't seem to realize that modifications decrease the value not increase it.

Which sounds terrible but really isn't.  One of my last jobs before retiring was dialling in the carbs on a 160hp 2.0L "Pinto" engine in Mk1 Capri.  It went VERY well!  And the VW box sound pedestrian but it is THE most support gearbox on the planet.  You can build anything you like with a simply bewildering range of final drives, gear ratios, limited slip options available.  Early Hewland boxes were inverted VW units.

Many years ago I stuffed a pinto engine into a ,ex police, ford escort patrol car.. Then ford did it and called it the RS2000 if my memory is correct.

I'm not one for saying anything negative but if you are selling modified cars for top dollar and making pretty big claims, well.

Pic of 1219 lbs??? I assume he wants a buyer to believe that is the finished weight of an S2 with a cast iron engine. Buyer beware.

People run more angle but from hours of reading on CV angles when I did my swap, 7 degrees is considered a safe constant max. I don't even know where to begin on the radius arm pick up point.

Not that a 2 valve 2 liter engine can't make 100 hp per liter but the engines that do on pump gas have 4 valves. The ones that do with 2 valve heads have A LOT of head work, big cams and high cr.  I would like to see a video and dyno of this one doing it. The claim of 185-195 hp then 215 on race gas???  It doesn't work like that unless he had to pull a lot of timing because the cr is too high for pump. His video doesn't look like a 1200lb car with 190hp.  This would be a 6:1 power to weight. That is a better than a new Corvette.

Yup, the rest of the mods look borderline sketchy, Especially attaching the rear upper link to the radius arm.

Totally agree about the Pinto engine Clifton. 195hp is highly unlikely on a SOHC 8 valve 2 liter streetable engine. Even David Vizard, the Pinto engine guru, says about 160hp.

I have nothing against the 2.0 Pinto engine! One of my favorite cars was the 1971 Capri I owned withe a 2.0! With headers, Sonic Turbo muffler, electronic ignition and rejetted carb it ran well. I have Vizard’s book and know a 2.0 street motor is tuff to get those numbers out of it.

Yep, nothing wrong with a pinto engine but if you're accepting the extra weight of a cast iron block, I don't know why you'd overlook the tried & true Zetec.

I believe that forward trailing arm mount is what's known as a 'Johnny' joint - a steel spherical joint used by 4x4 off roaders where giant articulation angles are the go.
The implementation in this case appears . . . 'courageous', as Sir Humphrey Appleby might say.

That was my thought too. The Zetec swap is a more modern engine and a more common swap. I guess if you have a 2L Pinto motor lying around it might make sense but even then, I think Zetecs are still a better choice.

Interesting car, but the ad is off-putting. The language used suggests 'Buyer beware'. Agree with other comments above. The pricing is quite ambitious, too.

However, I am surprised that, given the wide variety of engines people have stuffed into Europas, this is the first Pinto 2.0 swap I've seen. I have thought about Pinto 2.0 and 2.3 swaps, and even considered picking up a beater Europa to test the theory. Weight is an issue, but cheap power can be made (though, the 195 claimed in the article is questionable), and for the well-heeled, aluminum block and head options exist.
The Twin Cam plays the symphony whilst my right foot conducts the orchestra. At 3800 rpm the Mad Pipe Organ joins in.
