You certainly want that horn working. I had a little moment in the Elan at a grocery store where a woman pulled out of a spot and almost hit me. I leapt on the horn only to find it was not working...It was a panic filled moment as I thrust the car in to reverse!

Gavin, that would work if it’s on both sides of center plate.

That's a 'zoom in' view of your pic.

Remember, the steering joint will move around during use and I reckon looping the wire through the bolt is just asking for an intermittent connection down the track. i.e. the looping of wire doesn't constitute a firm connection.
And down the track, it'll be more difficult to get at.

  I know it was 😃.
The one that didn’t work is in the top pic.  Adding a ground strap under the bolt heads, absolutely will work.  The .032 safety wire was threaded thru the reamed out
Securing holes .  My safety wiring will not loosen up.
I am also assuming the bolts are original , however it doesn’t match with the s2 manual that shows bolt and nuts securing the three piece unit. My part 20 also has rubber isolators under the bolt heads and between the center anchor piece.
I am just pointing out the need to stagger the connectors to the lower coupler.

Well, I'm confused, D'man.

The original post says "I also show how to safety it to carry the ground."

Yeah, I understand how you've connected the components.
My comment was re the quality of the electrical connection so formed, not the safety wiring aspect.

Does all this mean you're not intending to use a separate ground strap and will rely on the safety wire for the electrical connection?
That's how I interpreted it.

Gavin,  I got you now, I was vague!
I was at first showing the po safety. Being a novice, I thought I would check what was done prior and to check for the ground.

I should have looked at the manual sooner, and I will make up a proper strap and secure it across the center plate as shown in place of safety wire .

The best part of this is that the column isn’t installed yet so adding it is easy.    🙏JB Save
