My Lotus Europa history
« on: Thursday,May 14, 2020, 04:27:51 AM »
I bought my first Lotus, a Lotus Europa S2, in kit form in 1971. I really got the bug for Lotus ownership and wanted to upgrade my S2 as soon as the Europa Twin cam was launched. However I could not afford to trade in until 1974 when I bought a 14 month old black Europa Special from Bell & Colvill. To me this was the best driving machine and even when the Esprit was launched I preferred to stick with my Europa Special. So convinced was I that the Europa Special was a truly great car that I still have it 46 years later. I have, of course, owned other Lotuses as well but the Europa Special maintains its place as the most indispensable car in my collection.

  :Welcome:

What a fantastic collection of cars! My Lotus collection is just as impressive except most are 1:43 scale. At least I have one full size Europa.

  Barry!

It’s a pleasure to hear people still save their favorite items, and keep it pristine.

Glad to have you join in ... & thanks for sharing your treasures.

Most of the crew here are north of...40 years or more, dare I say a few of us are in the polar regions!

Great to have another established Europa veteran, for guidance and history from a long time owner. Cheers!

ps...love the 61, had the honor of owning a 51 and a Zink z10 in my FF days. ld

Welcome to the forum, Barry. Thanks for the cool photos, especially the period photos. Very cool.  :beerchug:
The Twin Cam plays the symphony whilst my right foot conducts the orchestra. At 3800 rpm the Mad Pipe Organ joins in.
