Rotors for Lucas Dizzies
« on: Monday,September 16, 2019, 08:15:07 PM »
Word to the wise:

On the vintagetechnologygarage yahoo group recently, there was a discussion about distributor rotors. Keith had a rotor come loose and destroy the carbon wiper boss in the cap. It seems that many new rotors have problems. Dave Bean sells the good rotors and this document from Moss Motors describes the problems: https://mossmotors.com/media/instructions/151-805_872-785.pdf (obviously, Moss sells them too!)

Anyone looking for quality (a relative term) distributor parts for Lucas points ignitions may find The Distributor Doctor worthwhile http://www.distributordoctor.com/ . Unfortunately they did not have a points option for the Lotus TC, but they do have other bits, including a condenser that solved a particularly nagging problem when two new units right out of the little green Lucas box failed to work.
The Twin Cam plays the symphony whilst my right foot conducts the orchestra. At 3800 rpm the Mad Pipe Organ joins in.
